    John Onyido is the partner in charge of the Intellectual Property and Technology law department at SPA Ajibade & Co. He also oversees the firm’s Energy & Natural Resources and Telecommunications sectors of the practice.

    John is an attorney with over 27 years post-qualification dual jurisdictional experience in the practice of law. He trained as a lawyer both in Nigeria and in the United States of America. John holds triple postgraduate degrees in Corporate and Commercial Law, International Law and Diplomacy from the University of Lagos as well as Intellectual Property Law from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in New York City.

    John is a leading IP practitioner and has played pivotal roles in a number of leading intellectual property cases in Nigeria and oversees in addition to pioneering novel concepts and principles arising in a number of important IP cases in the country.

    He is a published author and has written extensively on various subject areas relating to his areas of expertise.

    He is admitted as an attorney in the state of New York, the Southern and Eastern District Courts of New York State, the US Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and before the United States Supreme Court.

    John currently sits on the editorial board of the Copyright Lawyer magazine based in the United Kingdom
